HISTORY

Tiger Keogh is the founder and creator of Sego Lily. She started Sego Lily in 2008, where she created a children's oasis in her big yard near Old City Park. Sego Lily Children's Garden aims to nurture each child's innate curiosity and reverence for nature. The child's relationship to the natural world is honored through song and story, following the rhythm of each day and celebrating each season.

Unbeknownst to each other, Annie Thomas also started a nature based preschool in 2008, reviving Sprouts Preschool at the Youth Garden Project. She created the Our Village Initiative at the same time, creating a village like atmosphere where preschool held the space for programming to invite new parents to come interact and invite elders in to read with the children.

Annie joined Tiger at Sego Lily in 2014 and discovered the beauty and magic of Waldorf Education. She trained under Tiger for 2 years, taking over in 2016 and moving the school to her home. The preschool began visiting Ray Alger, Annie's neighbor, every Tuesday and going on adventure time around his farm. He loved the visits from the children! The special interaction and intergenerational connection of a 93 year old and 3 year olds reinforced the original ideas of the Our Village Initiative. Sego Lily looked forward to their visits every week with Farmer Ray and began to fall in love with the farm. It's a special place in the heart of Moab.
